Since 2000 Ntengwe has been on the ground in the most isolated areas of Zimbabwe. They work with all stakeholders, community-based/non-government organizations, community groups/networks and governments to empower women, youth, children, families and communities to make vital changes that tackle the roots causes of discrimination against exclusion and vulnerability.

Their thematic areas are Child Protection, Care and Development, Health and Education, Social and Climate Justice (including Disaster Risk Reduction), and Economic Empowerment. They work long-term with our communities to address the life changing problems people in poverty face right now. To overcome poverty, injustice and adversity, such as climate related disasters and pandemics, we use the network leadership model, which is collective, distributed and bottom-up, focusing on systematic change in policy and practice towards a more supportive environment for our communities.

We remind you that our virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on 18 August 2022 from 5 PM (SAST). Highlights and achievements from the previous year will be shared, as well as general updates. We are thrilled that our keynote address will be given by world-renowned environmentalist Dr Vandana Shiva. Vandana Shiva is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, ecofeminist and anti-globalisation author. Shiva founded Navdanya, an Earth and women centric movement for seed saving, biodiversity, conservation and the rights of farmers. In 1993, she received the Right Livelihood Award, commonly known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize.” Shiva is often referred to as “Gandhi of grain” for her activism associated with the anti-GMO movement.

On the 14  and 15 of June 2022, ACT Ubumbano, F2A and BftW hosted an SRHR intergenerational Dialogue in Johannesburg, South Africa.  Participants, 25 male & female  clergy and youth were from partners,  implementing the SRHR Masithethe. The two day session enabled partners to engage in critical conversations on how faith has enabled or disabled the advancement of SRHR within the faith communities. It was an opportunity to reflect on the practices in the Masithethe Initiative and how else the spaces could be made safer for all hierarchies within the congregations. The dialogue was  facilitated by Thuli ( IAM) and Gershom (ZANERELA).

Our first hybrid public dialogue on 28^th June was very engaged, with 25 people in the room in Johannesburg, and another 79 online from various parts of the world. The panelists prompted critical reflection on the power dynamics associated with development and philanthropic funding, and challenged donors and NGOs to examine their practice and its contribution (or not) to social justice and solidarity. ACT Ubumbano, with support from F2A,  participated in the Welcoming the Stranger, Shaping the Future, a two day conference for faith and FBO leaders exploring the important role faith and faith communities play in welcoming and integrating refugees, migrants and internally displaced people. The  conference was hosted by the Lutheran World Federation, HIAS and Islamic Relief Worldwide. It was an opportunity to reflect on our own settings and review how we can be much more responsive to the needs of migrants, refugees, and internally displaced people.
