Who We Are

ACT Ubumbano is an initiative of Southern African and European organisations working for economic, gender and environmental justice. It supports local struggles by facilitating critical reflection on our social justice practice, listening to the voices of those who are most affected by injustice, and supporting innovative and collaborative solidarity initiatives that address unjust power relations globally.

ACT Ubumbano has a regional and global outlook and works closely with partners in Southern African countries and beyond. It is registered in South Africa as a non-profit organisation, and is an active member of the ACT Alliance, a global coalition of 145 churches and affiliated organisations. It also enjoys membership of the southern-led and interfaith Faith to Action Network, as well as of CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation. The mission of ACT Ubumbano is carried out by a small staff complement and overseen by an active board of trustees.

As a small team, they invest deeply in key relationships. ACT Ubumbano is accountable to its practice, not external mechanisms.”
