SAFCEI: Invitation to discuss potential new Nuclear Energy bid in South Africa – 29 July 2020

Greetings from SAFCEI. Many of you will recall our successful campaigning against the nuclear deal in South Africa.

Despite the “unconstitutional” and “unlawful” ruling against the nuclear build in South Africa in 2017, reports have now surfaced of governments requesting information for a nuclear new build programme. This was presented by the Minister of the Department of Minerals and Energy Resources (DMRE), Gwede Mantashe, in Parliament on 7 May 2020.

This news comes at a time when we are all focused on the COVID 19 pandemic and how South Africa and the globe is affected by it.

We want to discuss the current issues and find out what each of us are doing and planning, and if you would like to be involved in a new campaign.

Date: 29th July 2020
Time: 10:00 – 12:30

Please register with your name and organization by emailing zainab@safcei.org.za by Friday 24 July.

Please note that this will be an NGO meeting and outsiders will not be invited due to security reasons. A Zoom link will only be sent to those who have registered.
