A Critical Conversation on the Prophetic Role of the Church

An engaging conversation was facilitated by Bongie Bango-Moyo and provoked by the inputs of Rudelmar Bueno de Faria, General Secretary of the ACT Alliance, and Rev Mzwandile Molo, General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches. The challenges of our time call for a church that is rooted in the lived experiences of its members and the communities it serves. It is a time for solidarity with those who are on the margins, and a return to the solidarity of the base Christian communities that formed the basis of a theology of liberation. But this is not something that will happen on its own – we need to see the Church as a site of struggle, and must work to bring it into service of humanity.
