Solidarity as Practice: The 2025 Outcomes Harvest Report

Across ten countries in Southern Africa and Europe, 38 social actors — community organisers, collaborators, funders, and allies — shared what changed for them over the last four years of their engagement with ACT Ubumbano. The report captures six areas of change — from shifts in knowledge and leadership to gender justice, cross-border collaboration, and policy influence. The report also holds space for honest reflection: on the limits of short-term funding, on the tensions between reflection and delivery, and on the work that remains unfinished. We are grateful to Kegomoditsiwe Ntwagae for leading the research and compiling the report.

Outcomes Harvesting Report – September 2021

The Durban South Community Advice Centre (DSCAC), in partnership with Africa Climate Foundation and supported by ACT Ubumbano, undertook a baseline Knowledge Assessment survey in six communities in the South Durban Basin to find out what they feel and think about the Just Energy Transition (JET). The outcome is the SDB JET Baseline Assessment Report.

These communities are affected by air polluting, coal-fuelled industries, and this research is a step to ensuring greater community voice in processes aimed at moving to sustainable and renewable energy.
