Who We Are
Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe (GCEZ) is a youth-led, community-based organisation dedicated to advancing the rights, wellbeing, and leadership of girls and young women across Zimbabwe. Established to address the structural barriers that limit the potential of girls, GCEZ works to promote gender equality, protect human rights, and create safe, inclusive spaces where girls and women can thrive.
Our programmes focus on preventing gender-based violence, ending child marriage, promoting girls' education, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, strengthening economic empowerment, and increasing women's and girls' participation in leadership, governance, and civic processes. We also provide rights awareness, community mobilization, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives that empower women and girls to claim their rights and influence decisions affecting their lives.
Working in partnership with communities, traditional leaders, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners, GCEZ adopts a feminist, rights-based, and survivor-centered approach that places the voices and lived experiences of women and girls at the centre of all interventions. We remain committed to building resilient communities where every girl and woman enjoys equal opportunities, dignity, safety, and meaningful participation in shaping a just, democratic, and inclusive society.

What We Do
Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe (GCEZ) designs and implements community-based programmes that promote gender equality, protect the rights of women and girls, and strengthen their leadership and participation in society. Our work focuses on preventing and responding to gender-based violence, ending child marriage, promoting girls' education, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, and increasing women's participation in governance and civic processes. We provide rights awareness, legal empowerment, leadership development, mentorship, and life-skills training for girls and young women. We also work with traditional leaders, men and boys, government institutions, schools, and community structures to challenge harmful social norms and promote positive gender transformation. In addition, GCEZ undertakes advocacy, research, community mobilization, and policy engagement to influence laws, policies, and practices that affect women and girls. Through strategic partnerships and feminist movement-building, we strengthen community resilience, amplify the voices of marginalized women and girls, and contribute to inclusive, just, and democratic communities across Zimbabwe.
