Who We Are
AWET champions meaningful dialogue with women across diverse Apostolic sects, recognizing that these churches hold varied beliefs, norms, values, and perspectives on critical social issues such as early and child marriage, education, HIV/AIDS, maternal, newborn and child health (including immunization), gender-based violence, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights. Rooted in the recognition of an urgent need for collective action, AWET was founded to inspire and mobilize a movement of women and girls who stand up for their rights and advocate for the wellbeing and dignity of others.

Addressing Harmful Doctrines & Social Norms
AWET works to address Apostolic doctrines, beliefs, attitudes, and social norms that influence access to modern health services and the rights of women and children.

Challenging Gender Inequality & Social Injustices
We confront gender inequality, health disparities, social inequities, and weak child protection systems to foster fairness and justice.
Behaviour Change & Communication (SBCC)
Through Social and Behaviour Change Communication strategies, we promote informed dialogue, advocacy, and community engagement.
Transforming Attitudes & Practices
SBCC initiatives support positive shifts in behaviour, attitudes, and practices among Apostolic members to encourage healthier and more equitable communities.
What We Do
At AWET, we are committed to creating the change we want to see in the world — a world where gender equality is a reality and women and girls are empowered across all divides. Our work focuses on advancing equality through sexual and reproductive health and rights programming, ensuring that women and girls are informed, engaged, and supported. We believe that when communities, systems, and institutions provide high-quality, gender-equitable healthcare, supportive policies, and protective laws, women are better able to protect themselves and their children. True empowerment and self-efficacy are built through holistic support, capacity-building, and an environment that nurtures confidence, opportunity, and resilience.
