Women In Need Organisation was established in September 2020 by Dorothy Mabelebele, a like-minded individual who felt there was a void in communication within the communities of South Africa and International countries. The organization is based in Protea Glen Soweto. While researching issues affecting Women and Children it was quite overwhelming to find out that Gender-Based Violence is the major issue affecting both Women and Children, both South Africans and Migrants. Women In Need Organisation is targeting all nine provinces in South Africa, and other international countries. Women In Need has done a survey about issues affecting women and children the results turned out to be shocking to see how the statistics numbers. The work that we will be doing as the Women In Need organisation is to see South Africans as a whole along with International countries getting support from our organisation. Women In Need will be visiting different places in Gauteng before they go out there to spread. Women In Need Organisation intend to work with different organisations, schools, churches, and faith based Organisations.
Our Organisation is 100% Black Women led and their roles are as follows;

Achievements
We are happy to announce that with the partnership with Protea Glen Primary, Glenridge Primary, Faranani Primary, KwazuluNatal Primary, Kagiso Parimary, Act Ubumbano, The African Diaspora Forum, Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia and Li-lets South Africa we have managed to achieve the goal of keeping the girl child at school during the menstrual cycle. We are excited to be part of The National Strategic Plan Pillar 2.
Pillar 2: Prevention and Rebuilding Social Cohesion This pillar makes sure we address the root causes of gender-based violence and femicide in our country.
This pillar asks, ‘why do we have a gender-based violence and femicide crisis in South Africa?’ It works out how to deal with these root causes by rebuilding the society in which we live.
- Some of the root causes are:
- Ideas of masculinity which believe in men controlling women
- Ideas of femininity that promote women’s subordination to men
- Violence during early childhood, including boys being bullied
- Poverty
- Lack of education and,
- Drug and substance abuse.
